Mick Smith
Plymouth Duster
Mick is a relative new-comer to Super Stock, this is his story: "The car is a '73 model and I've owned it about five years. The original colour was metallic brown, which I changed to flame red in 2004. The car was also featured in 'American Car World' that year."
"Mods that I've done include binning the 2-barrel carb and intake and replaced them with 600cfm vac seconday Holley 2-barrel carb and Edelbrock Performer intake and a duel 2.5” exhaust system. I replaced the 8 1/4" open diff axle with a narrowed E-body axle with Suregrip and 3.55 gears. The engine isthe original 318ci V8 and the trans is the standard 904. With this setup, my best e.t. to date is 15.02 at 90mph."
Mick is originally from Sunderland, "We moved to Penistone, Sheffield in 2001 -the best thing we've ever done! A move to South Yorkshire is nearer to York Raceway you see, which is where to race and where I first saw the Duster for sale."
Mick is now painting the Duster yellow and having a built 383ci to replace the small block. 12s are in Mick's sights.
