Ian Z
Plymouth Road Runner
A strip rookie, Ian has achieved his childhood ambition of booting two tons of Mopar's finest down the 1/4-mile, "and proving that bowties and blue ovals are no match for Pentastar supremacy!" adds Ian.
"After having an early foray with a relatively stock '69 Charger, this 'Runner is prepared to slam rubber on both the track and on the street. This car has been lovingly prepared to satisfy both, by "the legendary John Sleath," as Ian refers to him (i.e. keep the right side of John and you go faster, I guess!). Originally a 383ci car imported by Simon 'Bootlegger' Boot, it is powered by a B-block 400ci motor taken out to just over 450. It's fitted with Edelbrock RPM heads and upgraded internals, topped off with an 850cfm double pumper. The car uses a 727 trans and 3.23 Suregrip rear.
Ian's besy e.t. to-date is 12.24 at 110mph, but he runs consistent 12.3 or 12.4. Ian says that he is "not at all tempted to try and hit the 11s (-yeah right!). But with the ideal that the car should remain perfectly streetable."
And regarding American Super Stock, Ian says, "Come and join us at the track and enjoy the friendliest, noisiest, American muscle entertainment this side of the Atlantic!"
Ian's 'Z' is an abbreviation of the somewhat fantastic Zdan-Michajlowicz. Original plans were to have his name down the side of the car -hence the need for a B-body. We haven't seen Ian out for a while, perhaps he's been busy signwritting his name down the sides of the car. Get in touch Ian and let's hear what's happenning.
